For the first 13 years of their life your daughter has been your pride and joy. You’re close. While you know you’re the parent, you’re thinking, “Wow, this is the picture of parent/child relationship.” Then, that 13th birthday hits and something happened. They CHANGED. They’re keeping to themselves, the conversation seems all one-way, and the eye-rolls. Is it ALWAYS this way? Probably not. But it happens a lot. Don’t do what I did and let them have their space. While they need it, your daughters need to be pursued. They need to know you care, even though they act like they don’t. If they don’t feel valued by you, they’ll find it somewhere else. And remind them that in Christ, they’re a child of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
